Founded in 1999 through the generosity and vision of Penn Alumnus Robert A. Fox (C'52), the mission of the Robert A. Fox Leadership Program is to enrich the 21st century Penn undergraduate educational experience in ways that excite and equip students for present and future leadership roles in whatever realms of human excellence and endeavor may call them.
The Robert A. Fox Leadership Program provides three sets of Leadership Events, four types of Leadership Experiences and two curricular contributions.
Leadership Events
The three Leadership Events are Forums, Leadership Lunches and Lessons in Leadership. Forums bring leaders from all fields - scientists, Wall Street executives, politicians, non-profit CEOs and artists - to campus to discuss their career paths and the critical moments and decisions along the way. Leadership Lunches offer a relaxed atmosphere in which students can meet and learn from senior University professors and administrators. The Lessons in Leadership series brings Penn graduates back to campus to discuss how their liberal arts undergraduate education prepared them for their career.
Leadership Experiences
The Program offers four Leadership Experiences in recognition of the fact that to fully develop leadership skills students need practical hands-on experience. The four Leadership Experiences consist of serving on the Fox Student Steering Committee, working as a researcher on one of the Fox Symposia, participating in our PowerSpeak workshops and practicums and working on one of our Civic Entrepreneurship projects, which give students the chance to develop and implement high impact projects that strive for civic excellence.
The Fox Program is helping the University achieve the goals outlined in its strategic planning document, which says that "Penn's exceptional undergraduate programs will position it, among a select group of universities, as a school of choice for the ablest undergraduates in the nation and the world...an institution that educates the best students and produces future leaders."
Leadership Courses
The curricular contribution consists of Leadership Courses taught by Fox-affiliated faculty, which examine every facet of leadership - from leadership in politics and journalism to a study of religion and U.S. social policy. In addition Fox generally offers 10-student recitations for our lecture courses.

However, developing comprehensive, effective performance management and reporting is a long term project that has only begun.”
John Koskinen, Deputy Director for Management, Office of Management and Budget, William J. Clinton Administration
“The Federal Government is results-oriented. We ask ourselves if we're accomplishing the desired result at an acceptable cost. If the answer is "no" or "we don't know," we are committed to do something about it. This volume contributes to our continuing effort to improve government’s results for the American people.”
Clay Johnson III, Deputy Director for Management, Office of Management and Budget, George W. Bush Administration
